Ye Old Cricket Pitch Comes To Life Again

The Freemen of Hale Village are now the new tenants of the old historic - Cricket Pitch field.
For over 120 years, this land, belonging to Hale Hall/Ireland Blackburns - and later Hale Estates, was the scene of many cricket matches, Hale Fetes and more recently – football.
Final preparations are now under way to prepare the area once again, for football and possibly fundraising events/activities.
A new programme of maintenance is now taking,place, from bringing the field upto standard and cleaning up around the Pavilion area. The outskirts of the field and the pitch area have been mown several times over the last month.
We caught up with a local contractor Sunday morning, who has been commissioned to scarify the pitch.
